[SDCPJ] FW: For Immediate Release, January 23, 2015 GLOBAL, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL ACTION FOR AYOTZINAPA AND MEXICO

The CommUNITY of San Diego rises up with the people of Mexico and their
struggle for political and social liberation!
The border community will congregate on the evening of January 26th, at Chicano
Park, to continue to shed light on the disappearance of the abducted students and
the uprisings, thereafter, of the people of Mexico. 4 months later…ALIVE THEY
WERE TAKEN, ALIVE WE WANT THEM BACK!

When: Monday, January 26, 2015
Time: 6pm – 9pm
Where: Chicano Park, San Diego, Ca
Visuals: Massive amounts of people, posters, informational tables, music,
food, love.
Group ComUNIDAD

San Diego, CA – It has been four months of heart-ache; it has been four months of searching; it
has been four months that the people of Mexico have had ENOUGH! January 26th marks the 4
month date that 43 normalista students, from the Normal School of Ayotzinapa, were abducted
by the hands of the Mexican government, both locally and federally. It has been 4months since
our brothers and sisters of Mexico have decided that enough is enough, they want a new country,
a prosperous country, a free and peaceful country. We, the residents of San Diego, stand in
solidarity with our sisters and brothers of Mexico and their fight for liberation. In addition we, as
residents of the United States, acknowledge our countries (the United States) influence in the
tragedies that occur every single day in Mexico. Due to our foreign policies, such as Plan Merida
which enables our tax dollars to support a Mexican government that is filled with human rights
abuses, and our lax gun laws that allow the illegal smuggling of United States guns into Mexico
and perpetuate the violence of the cartels; we stand against our roles and call upon our
government to end the promotion of this violence across our border. La ComUNIDAD, a
coalition of community members, organizations, and allies, calls upon the San Diegan public to
come to Chicano Park this upcoming Monday and hold hands with us, as we stand in solidarity
with our sisters and brothers of Mexico and against our imperialistic influences on Mexico.

About the Show

http://www.sdrep.org/showinfo.php?showid=161
Do you ever wonder if activism in America can provoke real change? Is it possible to stand up and shout and really make a difference?
Maybe it's time to get a little crazy! This is where bad-boy Abbie Hoffman (played by Herbert Siguenza) comes in. You know about Abbie, right? He was the political and social activist who co-founded the Youth International Party ("Yippies") on New Year's eve of 1968. But did you know that this icon of youthful rebellion now serves as the patron saint of radicals? In his little corner of heaven, Abbie conducts a boot camp for activists who have the chutzpah required to go back to Earth to become new agents of change.
Enter Trish, a young veteran-turned-activist, who finds herself at the pearly gates. Bingo. Abbie senses he may have finally found the right combination of anger, courage, and cunning wit. So he calls in his comrades John Lennon and Albert Einstein, locks the gate and says "Let the training begin!"
Abbie is thrilled when Trish brings her A-Game to the table to take on the challenges of the 21st century. Yippie!

Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday:  Convened by Activist San Diego and our partner, United Against Police Terror - San Diego and others.
In Nov. we turned frustration into a tremendous outpouring that promises to strengthen multiracial and multi-generational activism. We had more than 30 people at our Dec. meetings; we set up committees, outlined plans and actions.    We are determined stop the growth of  militarized and racialized policing and shed light on the discriminatory practices that  undermine peace and social equity.
We meet in solidarity national efforts to build a people's movement in Ferguson/St. Louis and countless other cities.  Our intent is to establish a permanent presence in this work with a new generation of activists. JOIN US!
