[SDCPJ] San Diego: May 11, 1 pm. Standing united as a global village on Mother's Day

I'm forwarding this message from Joan Sheagren-Hayes Morris:

Please stand with us for five minutes of silence at 1 p.m.  local time on May 11, 2014, in Balboa Park at the large fountain by the Museum of Natural History, to signify your agreement with the Standing Women Mission to encourage peace, equality and respect for all peoples and for the earth.   We ask you to invite the men who you care about to join you.  We ask that you bring bells to ring at 1 p.m. to signify the beginning of the five minutes of silence and to ring again to signify the end of the period of silence.  During the silence, please think about what you individually and we collectively can do to attain this world.  If you need to sit rather than stand, please feel free to do so.  Afterwards, hopefully you and your loved ones can talk together about how we can bring about this world.

STANDING TOGETHER - MAY 11, 2014 - MOTHER'S DAY - 1 pm
Dreaming a global village to raise the world's children...

Please join us...
To stand with women all over the world on Sunday May 11, 2014, 1 pm local time
In 5 minutes of silence to envision a positive future for our children.

Tell us where you will stand.

See where others will be standing,
and send an email of appreciation to those whose words call to you.

As we issue this invitation for our 8th year of standing together worldwide,
we are aware of entering a new cycle for the seven generations to come,
a deeper level of interconnectivity and shared purpose
where every intention and every act counts...

Sense into the possibility with us...
that as we dream and intend together, we are co-creating the foundation for a new culture,
for a global village that supports the well-being of every child,
that as we weave the highest intentions of parents, aunts, uncles, and grandparents,
we are creating a standing wave of safety, possibility, and love for the children.

THE DREAM OF STANDING WOMEN...

Please join us on Sunday May 11, 2014 at 1 pm local time
for 5 minutes of silence and connection.
Post your standing and co-create a weave of appreciation for others standing at www.StandingWomen.net.

Blessings on each and all,
The Standing Women Team at LightPages, Jeanie, Bruce, Bonnie, Julie, and Deb

[Please notice that our site is now located at www.StandingWomen.net. If you are called, please direct your friends to the site, or post the invitation link at the top of this page on your social media, and of course, LIKE Standing Women on Facebook. Thank you!]

Hi Michael –

Our democracy has been overtaken by corporate interests who have bought favor with politicians, putting up huge roadblocks to any legislation that benefits people.

But all over the country people are fighting back and demanding change. In light of the recent Supreme Court McCutcheon v. FEC decision, we need this effort now more than ever. America needs a 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that declares that We the People have the authority to regulate election spending and that corporations shall not be endowed with the same rights and privileges as human beings.

Join us at the 28th Amendment National Roadshow Conference in Los Angeles on April 26. Click here to register.

I will be presenting at the 28th Amendment Roadshow about how grassroots organizations can help in the fight to amend the Constitution and how Supreme Court cases like Citizens United and McCutcheon continue to erode our democracy.

We hope you'll join us in this most important of fights.

Sincerely,

Jeff

[SDCPJ] Monday, 4/21, 7 pm, The Battle for Justice in Palestine - Ali Abunimah

-please forward widely-
Monday, April 21, 2014, 7pm

SDSU Intercultural Center
2nd Floor Aztec Student Union Bldg
.

Join with the SDSU Arab Students Association and Students for Justice in Palestine to hear
Journalist and co-founder of the Electronic Intifada
Ali Abunimah
discuss his new book
The Battle for Justice in Palestine
Efforts to achieve a "two-state solution" have finally collapsed; the struggle for justice in Palestine is at a crossroads. As Israel and its advocates lurch toward greater extremism, many ask where the struggle is headed. Ali Abunimah offers a clear analysis of this crossroads moment and looks forward with urgency down the path to a more hopeful future.

"Every community that stands fast, loving its people and its land, its customs and its ways, will be seen, eventually, as worthy of saving. This is because it is our own humanity we are learning from, our own value. There will also arise a special voice to champion us, one that is brave, trustworthy and true. In The Battle for Justice in Palestine it is the voice of Ali Abunimah, fierce, wise - a warrior for justice and peace - someone whose large heart, one senses, beyond his calm, is constantly on fire. A pragmatist but also a poet. This is the book to read to understand the present bizarre and ongoing complexity of the Palestine/Israel tragedy." Alice Walker
