Dear Brady Members and Friends,

Good News and Call to Action

Last week, thanks to Brady's advocacy and persistence, Senator Chuck Schumer made good on his promise to introduce a background check bill in the Senate.
S 2934 would expand background checks to all gun sales.  Please call Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein and tell them to co-sponsor S 2934 Fix Gun Checks.

Barbara Boxer - (619) 239-3884
Dianne Feinstein - (619) 231-9712

When you and thousands of other Brady activists flooded Senator Schumer's office with calls for "Brady Bill 2.0," we saw how quickly the tides can turn in favor of smart gun legislation.  Your calls matter.  Please ask friends in other states to take action too.

Obama in Hiroshima

On Friday, May 27, President Barack Obama will become the first sitting U.S. president to visit Hiroshima, Japan, site of the first atomic bomb detonation in history. Amid the debate over the visit—will he or won't he go; will he or won't he meet with the Hibakusha; will he or won't he apologize—it is clear that his visit is a monumentally historic event that will force the world to consider again the destructive consequences of nuclear weapons.

Below, we've assembled a reading list on the subject of the only uses of nuclear weapons in history, and what this visit by President Obama means to people in the U.S., Japan, and around the world. To help tackle the big questions raised, we are highlighting some of our best and most recent analysis.

[SDCPJ] Rally Outside Trump Speech Fri.May 27, Noon -:- Organizing meeting Mon. 7 pm

Dj event

JOIN! Love trumps Hate Solidarity Network

Meet Mon. May 23 - 7pm at Grassroots Oasis

RALLY OUTSIDE TRUMP SPEECH @ SAN DIEGO CONVENTION CENTER FRI, MAY 27th noon -

Several days before Trump announced his speech in San Diego 25 people gathered to lay out some basic plans for an expected visit by Donald Trump. How prophetic we were! NOW WE MUST ORGANIZE QUICKLY & EFFECTIVELY.
The consensus was that Donald Trump remains one of the most dangerous and unpredictable candidates ever to potentially reach the White House. His racially charged politics, his anti-immigrant rhetoric, his Muslim bashing, and his pandering to billionaire 1%ers, makes him a threat that is worthy of major public mobilization. It is especially important that San Diego with the largest border entry point between the US/Mexico be ready to expose the very real consequences of hate

President Trump? Send him Packing out of San Diego!
Mobilize to send a message of solidarity to all DT hates.

O
ur new coalition adopted a slogan often heard which we thought represented our positive approach to combating hate speech, calling ourselves the Love trumps Hate Solidarity Network. (Like and Share on Facebook).. We will mobilize a massive a response emphasizing a positive message of grassroots democratic, non-violent opposition.
Meet Mon. May 23rd at the Grassroots Oasis near Old Town ~3130 Moore St. San Diego. Please forward this on to others so that representatives of a wide cross-section: including students, immigrant groups, Republican, Democrats, independents, labor unions & human rights organizations can coalesce for this common cause.
