This event took place at Sufi Mediterranean Cuisine, 5911 Balboa Avenue, San Diego, CA 92111, on the evening of October 23rd.

Apartheid State
![]() |
| Palestinian Leader Bassem Tamimi, Producer Walter Davis, Author Miko Peled in San Diego October 2014 |
By Walter Davis
What would you have done -
During slavery times, during South African Apartheid, in Europe during the Jewish purge, during Native American genocide in America...if you had lived in those times?
What you are doing NOW during the genocide of the Palestinians is a good indication of what you would have done then.
The murderous actions being taken in Palestine are far worse than slavery or South African apartheid. In those systems, Black people were needed for their labor and they were at least marginally supported. In the racist Israeli genocide, the Zionists want NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PALESTINIANS. If they die...that is fine...if they submit..it must be complete. If the children die in the street...that is ok. If they cannot get food, medical care or get to their backyards due to an Israeli fence separating their property...too bad.
Small children murdered in the street. Grandmothers bulldozed in their homes. Fathers killed. Small bodies placed in freezers in ice cream parlors because there is no morgue.
Treaties mean nothing. There are illegal settlements by the Israeli Zionists. U.N. sanctions mean nothing.
While Detroit gets a total of $17 million dollars to help with financial problems, Israel gets 8.5 million U.S. tax dollars per day in foreign aid.
The Nazis did the same thing to Jews during World War II. How ironic that the modern day Jews inflict the same pain on others....with U.S. tax payer money.
The vicious policies of the United States and Israel are a reflection of the genocide against Native American nations during the vicious western expansion: Americans violated treaties, killed women and children, took land from the rightful owners, committed mass murder. This is illustrated further with the observation of Columbus Day - Columbus murdered 250,000 people in the "New World".
Like the current Zionist Israelis, the American settlers wanted NOTHING to do with the Native Americans. A good Indian was a dead Indian. Further, these people were NOT Indians..they were Cherokee, Choctaw, Creek, Mohawk, Seminole, Huron, Dakota, Black Feet, Cheyenne, Pala, Pechanga...and others.
Then, as now, America has failed to live up to its own laws. Our government has failed us. ...failed to live up to international law.
And so...we have it ISIS...and other....FREEDOM fighting groups growing.....our government making enemies out of people that could be behaving quite differently...if our government was performing as an example of freedom, justice....love....fairness...human dignity...observation of unalienable rights.
So I ask again, what are you DOING today....when one of the most terrible, brutal, savage governments in history....is murdering innocent people...WITH your tax dollars....and making enemies...for YOU....the American citizen.

Associated Students at UC San Diego Passes Divestment Resolution 20-12-1

Students for Justice in Palestine, UC San Diegohttp://www.sjpucsd.com/14-march-2013.html
Dedicated to Alireza Moaddel, beloved member of the SJP community.
On March 14th, 2013 at 1:30 am the Associated Students at UC San Diego (ASUCSD) passed a resolution in support of divesting from corporations such as Northrop Grumman, Alliant Techsystems, General Electric, and others whose technology is used by the Israeli Defense Forces to violate the human rights of Palestinians.
The original document, which can be found here, was submitted by Students for Justice in Palestine to the ASUCSD on February 24th, 2013. After many attempts to delay and filibuster SJP's presentation of this resolution, stretching the debate to three weeks, the vote was finally taken on an amended version of this document. Despite vocal opposition from the ASUCSD President to fail the resolution, despite underhanded attempts by senators to introduce new bills that were "less divisive" and denied basic fact, despite threats made to student representatives by parties and individuals opposed to the bill, and despite the massive adulteration of SJP's original resolution, divestment at UC San Diego has finally passed.
Students for Justice in Palestine commends the decision of ASUCSD to uphold university standards of sustainability and responsible investments. Companies who profit from the deaths of Palestinians should be singled out and condemned for their actions. This is a tactic of the Boycotts, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement called upon by Palestinian civil society to draw attention to human rights violations perpetrated by Israel.
Nelson Mandela credited the pressure UC divestment measures exerted upon the government of South Africa as integral to the collapse of apartheid. Similarly, SJP UCSD believes that divestment is a powerful tool with which to work towards true social justice for the Palestinians and for all peoples fighting occupation, apartheid, and other injustices. As Nelson Mandela also said, "We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians." We at SJP UCSD, in conjunction with with other UC schools including UC Irvine and UC Riverside, seek to recreate that pressure in our struggle in solidarity with Palestinians seeking freedom and justice.
In the words of Suheir Hammad, a Palestinian poet from Brooklyn, "Affirm life. Affirm life. We got to carry each other now. You are either with life, or against it. Affirm life."

[SDCPJ] Southern California Youm Al-Ard, Land Day Events
[Please forward widely!]
Youm Al-Ard, Land Day Events in Southern California
March 29-31, 2013
Background
Youm Al-Ard/Day of The Land has been marked world-wide yearly since the killing on March 30, 1976 of six Palestinians in Galilee by Israeli troops during peaceful protests over the confiscation of Palestinian lands. The Zionist occupation imposed a curfew effective from 5 PM on March 29, 1976 on the Palestinian villages of Sakhnin, Arraba, Deir Hanna, Tur'an, Tamra, and Kabul after it announced plans to further expropriate/steal thousands of dounams of Palestinian Arab land for "security and settlement purposes". In response Palestinians called and organized a general strike and protests from Al-Jalil in the north (Galilee) to Al-Naqab in the south on March 30 1976. During the protests, occupation Zionist soldiers and police attacked and killed 6 Palestinians, 3 women and 3 men, wounded one hundred, and arrested hundreds. Solidarity strikes were also held almost simultaneously in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and in most of the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. Youm al-Ard is particularly significant because it was the first time since the 1948 occupation that Palestinian Arabs in "Israel" organized a response to Zionist occupation policies as a Palestinian national collective. Palestinians and their supporters throughout the world mark Youm Al-Ard annually ever since.
