Subject: One-year commemoration of Gaza child deaths, Saturday, August 29th, Balboa Park

Please join the San Diego chapter of Jewish Voice for Peace on the afternoon of Saturday, August 29th to commemorate the deaths of the 522 children killed during Israel's "Operation Protective Edge" offensive in Gaza one year ago. 

Israel's assault on Gaza lasted from July 7 to August 26, 2014 and killed a large number of Palestinians, including 521 children.  One Israeli child was also killed in a Palestinian mortar attack near the Gaza border.

We will hold the commemoration in Balboa Park along 6^th Ave north of Laurel St. from 12:00 noon until 5 pm.  Look for the event sign and the display of black pinwheels bearing the names and ages of each child victim.  We plan to read aloud the names and ages of the children throughout the afternoon and will also staff a literature table.  You are free to come any time during the afternoon and to stay for as long as you like.

What:     A one-year commemoration for the children killed during Israel's 2014 Gaza offensive

Where:  Balboa Park along 6^th Ave north of Laurel St.

When:    Saturday, August 29^th, 12:00 noon until 5:00 pm

Many of us plan to wear black to signify our grief and the somber nature of the event.
