Douglas Holbrook
News and Public Affairs Fund
Douglas Holbrook, an attorney for 34 years, likened himself to Abe Lincoln, "an honest lawyer with a vision for how the business of government ought to be run." He was also a faculty member at San Diego State University and the University of San Diego, masterfully teaching political science and business law. Douglas hosted "Perspectives," a nationally syndicated radio program, and "Legally Speaking," a legal advice show. In the last couple of years Douglas redidicated his passion for radio, becoming KNSJ #1 radio hosts, and becoming President of ASD to help launch San Diego's newest educational radio station, KNSJ 89.1 FM.
Douglas Holbrook was deeply concerned in his last years, that US democracy was being erroded by media monopolies. Douglas especially focused his passion and leadership abilities on bring funding to KNSJ's budding News Department and public affairs shows, like Talk of the Town. Douglas opened up his beloved historic home for studio recordings, meetings and fundraisers.
The Douglas Holbrook Fund will continue his unfinished work by supporting youth & new efforts to sustain community radio KNSJ. The Fund will be administered by a federally registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, ASD, with grants being given to worthy projects & producers.
The Douglas Holbrook Fund for News & Public Affairs seeks to raise $25,000 to begin its efforts to train young citizen journalists as well as develop local news & civic discussion aimed at strengthening justice and democracy in San Diego. The website DouglasHolbrookFund.org and a newsletter will permanently acknowledge your generous contributors to Douglas Holbrook's Fund & track the good deeds done by recipients. All donations are tax deductible.
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good people do nothing."
