You may have heard news reports about the bad court decision on eviction of the CHE Cafe. Whether or not it was badly decided enough for an appeal (we're still looking at that) the focus of the Save the CHE Cafe campaign is shifting to the "on the ground" fight We aim to get the Associated Students Council to side with the co-op and intervene; to get the Graduate Students Association Council to reverse their position siding with the UCSD administration; to get the UCSD administration to back off and return to the negotiation table. Part of the pressure we need to create to make this happen is in the form of starting and expanding a Boycott of UCSD.
If you are able to help with the new Boycott aspect of the Save the CHE Cafe campaign, please contact Scott Sanders.
There will be a rally and march on the UCSD Chancellor on Tuesday, October 28, to officially deliver to him over 14,000 petition and open letter signatures demanding that he stop the eviction and fund the CHE Cafe. All are invited to join the protest action. See the students' notice of the action at http://thechecafe.blogspot.com/2014/10/save-che-rally-che-chats-with-chancellor.html

Subject: UCSD Boycott Project

Hello,
I am reporting to let everyone know that I have reached out to all bands and artists performing at the different venues on UCSD in the next coming months, requesting their support for C.H.E. We have sent them the attached letter asking them to speak out against UCSD's actions at their upcoming shows. We are hoping to get people to boycott their event, but with contracts and things like that it may be hard for them to do. At the very least we are hoping for people to speak out for C.H.E. at their shows, taking some time during their sets to show their support.
The next step is to contact all artists that will be showing at the galleries on campus. After that we will be reaching out to as many artists and bands that have shown or performed on UCSD before or could potentially play there in the future. If anyone is able to offer their time or efforts to this project please let me know! Thank you!
-Scott
