Local Activists to Protest Condoleezza Rice Appearance, Demand Accountability, in San Diego

San Diego-- When Condoleezza Rice comes to San Diego to speak at the ISRI Convention and Exposition on Saturday, May 8th, San Diego area activists, including CODEPINK will be ready with an outside protest demanding accountability and justice for the lies Rice told the American people during her time with the Bush Administration. The visual and vibrant protest will be held outside of the San Diego Convention Center where Rice is scheduled to speak at the general session. CODEPINK members have staged creative protests of Condoleezza Rice and other war criminals across the country, previous actions can be found here: http://www.codepinkalert.org/article.php?id=4941

WHEN: Saturday, May 8, 2010 8:00AM
WHERE: San Diego Convention Center, 111 W Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA 92101

"We are demanding accountability from Condoleezza Rice who approved and apologized for numerous war crimes on behalf of the Bush Administration," CODEPINK Co-Founder Medea Benjamin, has said. "If law enforcement and Congress won't do it, we, the American people will!"

The women's peace group has been in the headlines recently with their protests of Karl Rove at his book signings all around the country (and in San Diego). See more coverage from the Rove/CODEPINK tour here.
CODEPINK, founded in 2002, is a women-initiated grassroots peace and social justice movement working to end the war in Iraq, stop new wars, and redirect our resources into health care, education and other life-affirming activities. We reject the Bush administration's fear-based politics that justify violence, and instead call for policies based on compassion, kindness and a commitment to international law. With an emphasis on joy and humor, CODEPINK women and men seek to activate, amplify and inspire a community of peacemakers through creative campaigns and a commitment to non-violence.  For more info, visit www.codepink.org.
