Local Veterans To Honor Fallen Veterans From Southern California On Veterans Day (Wednesday, November 11th)
Summary:
The San Diego Veterans For Peace chapter will be setting up its Hometown Arlington West Memorial from 8 AM to 5 PM on Veterans Day, November 11th, 2015, in front of the USS Midway Museum on Harbor Drive. The memorial consists of Arlington Cemetery replica headstones with the name, local city and date of death for the 300+ service members from southern California who have died in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Visitors are encouraged to stop by, honor the fallen, take a turn reading from the list of the 6500 fallen from the entire US, and reflect on the overall cost of war.
Where: Front lawn area of the USS Midway Museum, 910 N. Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA
When: 8 AM to 5 PM on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11th, 2015
Why: Originally Armistice Day, recognizing the end of World War 1, Veterans Day has become a day to honor veterans and especially those who have given their lives in the service of their country.
What: Hometown Arlington West Memorial, as established and set-up by the San Diego Veterans For Peace Chapter #91.
Who: The San Diego Veterans For Peace, the local chapter of the national Veterans For Peace organization, is a 501-C-3 veterans educational organization, with veterans of all five services and associate members, dedicated to educating the public to the overall costs of war.
