East West was formed in 2005 as a blend of artists, talent, and cultures. With a unique instrumental combination, East West offers a fresh, dynamic sound that is a new take on jazz standards, traditional melodies and original compositions. Reiko Obata, of East West, is one of the leading American koto players. A native Californian, she studied under masters in the U.S. and Japan. STOP the budget cuts PROTEST!
Where: CITY COLLEGE; 1313 PARK BLVD (CORNER OF PARK AND 'A' ST)
When: Wednesday March 2, 4:30 PM
Education For All Coalition is calling all brothers and sisters, students, workers, the unemployed, union members, activists, and freedom fighters to protest the budget cuts on March 2nd!!
Students across the state have been organizing for March 2nd National Day of Action against austerity measures, budget cuts, and privatization of education and social services. Tens of thousands protested on March 4th, 2010 across the country. San Diego had 5,000 strong taking it to the streets of Downtown and marching to the State building against governor Schwarzenegger's budget cuts.
Now Democratic governor Brown is proposing drastic cuts to vital social services and we need to respond- WISCONSIN STYLE. We support teachers and public-sector workers and their hard work. Union workers are not to be blamed for the economic crisis!
Solutions to THEIR budget crisis- TAX THE FILTHY RICH, END WARS AND ALL US INTERVENTION ACROSS THE ARAB WORLD!!!
We will be standing in Solidarity with students and workers in Wisconsin and the Revolutions and Uprisings in North Africa and the Middle East.

Subject: Invitation to Propose a Workshop- Cultivating Food Justice Event @ City Heights April 9-10
Hello,
I am writing you to extend an invitation to propose a workshop for the Cultivating Food Justice Event that will be happening in the community of City Heights in San Diego (Fairmount Ave and Wightman St. area) on April 9th and 10th. Our mission with this event is to gather the diverse San Diego / Tijuana region together to work towards creating an equitable and sustainable food system for all people through education, networking and direct action. The event will consist of workshops, rountdtable discussions, two local keynote speakers, entertainment and food!
We are looking for people to facilitate workshops/roundtables/talks on topics related to food justice in order to strengthen the impact of our even in the San Diego-Tijuana communities. Here are some examples of the broad themes your topic may fall under:
Of course you are not limited to these themes! We hope that you will be interested in being part of these critical discussions on food and social justice and that you will propose a workshop for this event. The workshop form is available at https://spreadsheets0.google.com/viewform?formkey=dDNWSi1fVXhlU1Q1dktoa0xRaTZXVlE6MQ#gid=0.
Our due date for workshop proposals is Friday, March 11th, 2011. If you have any questions please feel free to email sdcfjc@gmail.com. You can also check out our website at http://sdfoodjustice.org. Please distribute this invitation widely.
