American Nuke Bomb LOST Under Ancient Ice Fields

Way back in 1968, an American B-52 crashed in northwest Greenland...

Unfortunately, the nuclear bombs on board got forever swallowed by an ancient ice sheet...

But there's an unknown penny stock set to rise 2,000% from this sorry situation.

Sound unbelievable? Watch this presentation for proof...

Reckoning today from Salta, Argentina...

What's new in civilization? We went to Cafayate last night. Our old friend Doug Casey hosted an intimate little dinner - for about 150 people. He's developing a community down there - the kind of place he wants to live in...surrounded by friends, good food, bright sun, beautiful views...and everything else a man might want.

Whether this is a good idea or not, we can't say. But it is fun to get together with Doug and his crowd.

Since we were back in Internet range, we checked in with our usual sources. Here's what we found:

The economy is either growing slowly, or contracting.

Housing is probably going down. Remember, Mr. Market has to destroy the idea that "housing always goes up." When he's finished people will think that "housing never goes up."

Unemployment? People are gradually beginning to realize that the last ten years were the worst for creating new jobs in America's history. If they keep thinking about it they will realize that it is not just the bust that is destroying jobs; there was something very wrong with the boom too.

Meanwhile, the markets are still calculating, figuring, deciding what things are worth. In the last couple of days, they've been thinking that maybe stocks and gold got a little too uppity. Gold has lost more than $50 in the last two days. Stocks lost ground on Tuesday, but bounced up 36 points yesterday.

From all we can tell, the Great Correction continues. And here's a report from The New York Times that tells us where it leads:

OSAKA, Japan - Like many members of Japan's middle class, Masato Y. enjoyed a level of affluence two decades ago that was the envy of the world. Masato, a small-business owner, bought a $500,000 condominium, vacationed in Hawaii and drove a late-model Mercedes.

But his living standards slowly crumbled along with Japan's overall economy. First, he was forced to reduce trips abroad and then eliminate them. Then he traded the Mercedes for a cheaper domestic model. Last year, he sold his condo - for a third of what he paid for it, and for less than what he still owed on the mortgage he took out 17 years ago.

"Japan used to be so flashy and upbeat, but now everyone must live in a dark and subdued way," said Masato, 49, who asked that his full name not be used because he still cannot repay the $110,000 that he owes on the mortgage.

..For nearly a generation now, [Japan] has been trapped in low growth and a corrosive downward spiral of prices, known as deflation, in the process shriveling from an economic Godzilla to little more than an afterthought in the global economy.

"The US, the UK, Spain, Ireland, they all are going through what Japan went through a decade or so ago," said Richard Koo, chief economist at Nomura Securities who recently wrote a book about Japan's lessons for the world. "Millions of individuals and companies see their balance sheets going underwater, so they are using their cash to pay down debt instead of borrowing and spending."

The Daily Reckoning Presents
The US Dollar is Doomed

Puru Saxena
Puru Saxena
Austerity be damned, at this rate Mr. Bernanke will go down in the history books as one of the greatest money creators ever to have walked this planet!

Never mind sky-high deficits and a crushing debt overhang, at its most recent FOMC meeting, the Federal Reserve all but guaranteed another round of quantitative easing.

While the American central bank did not officially expand its quantitative easing program last month, it did reiterate its willingness to institute more aggressive monetary policy measures in order to combat the risks of deflation. Furthermore, Mr. Bernanke did officially downgrade the Federal Reserve's outlook for inflation.

The truth is that the US is insolvent and its policymakers will stop at nothing in order to avoid sovereign default. So, it should come as no surprise that at its latest meeting, the Federal Reserve downplayed the risk of inflation, thereby setting the stage for another round of money creation.

Make no mistake; Mr. Bernanke has already created copious amounts of money. Granted, the Federal Reserve's previous monetisation was highly secretive, but you can be sure that it did occur. Allow us to explain:

You will recall that during the depths of the financial crisis, the Federal Reserve expanded its own balance-sheet and bought all sorts of toxic assets from the financial institutions. By doing so, Mr. Bernanke created money out of thin air and bailed out the major banks.

Thus, the banks were able to dump their garbage assets on to the Federal Reserve and once they received the newly created cash in exchange for these securities, they loaned this money to the US government by purchasing US Treasuries. In summary, in the previous round of quantitative easing, the Federal Reserve created new money and instead of lending it directly to the US government, it used the banking cartel as its conduit. Back then, not only did the Federal Reserve create more than a trillion dollars, it also dropped its discount rate to almost zero; thereby allowing banks to borrow money cheaply! It should be noted that since the banks were able to obtain such inexpensive funding from the Federal Reserve, they had absolutely no qualms about re-investing this capital in US Treasuries.

At first glance, the Federal Reserve's stealth monetisation plan seemed flawless. The banks offloaded their toxic assets on to the Federal Reserve, they made fortunes by investing in US Treasuries and the American government got access to a cheap source of funding. Magic!

Despite the fact that this financial wizardry was a lifeline for American policymakers and their banking cronies, let there be no doubt that it was an unmitigated disaster for the American public. Not only did the Federal Reserve nationalise the banks' losses but more importantly, Mr. Bernanke's money creation efforts have seriously undermined the viability of the US Dollar.

It is noteworthy that since bailing out the major banks and orchestrating the stealth monetisation, the Federal Reserve has been busy purchasing US Treasuries. Furthermore, it is now almost certain that in next month's FOMC meeting, Mr. Bernanke will unleash yet another round of quantitative easing. In other words, in order to fund Mr. Obama's out of control spending, Mr. Bernanke will create even more dollars out of thin air! Allegedly, this new round of money creation will drive interest-rates lower, thereby helping the US economic recovery. Or so the story goes.

Unfortunately, as any serious student of economic history knows, there is no such thing as a free lunch. By adding trillions of additional dollars to the monetary stock, Mr. Bernanke may succeed in bailing out his friends in high places but he is seriously jeopardising the US Dollar. In fact, bearing in mind the recent developments, it has become clear to us that the Federal Reserve wants to debase its currency. In our humble opinion, the US Dollar is a doomed currency and there is a real risk of an abrupt plunge in its value.

If our assessment turns out to be correct and Mr. Bernanke unleashes the second phase of quantitative easing, you can be sure that the US Dollar will slide against most un-manipulated currencies (which are few and far between) and hard assets. In fact, monetary inflation is the prime reason why we believe that the ongoing bull-market in stocks and commodities will continue for several more months.

Look. The US economy is swimming in debt and the total obligations (including social security, Medicare and Medicaid) now come in at around 800% of GDP! Furthermore, this year alone, Mr. Obama's administration plans to spend another US$3.5 trillion, meanwhile the US Treasury will raise roughly US$2.2 trillion from issuing new government debt! Clearly, these numbers are unsustainable and you can bet your bottom dollar that the Federal Reserve will end up buying a large proportion of the newly issued US Treasury securities. As the American central bank funds more and more of Mr. Obama's spending by creating new money, it will trash the value of its currency. In fact, given the growing imbalance between the government's spending and tax receipts, very high inflation is inevitable and even hyperinflation cannot be ruled out.

For the sake of their financial well being, it is crucial that investors understand that inflation or even hyperinflation is a monetary phenomenon and a strong economy is not a pre-requisite for the debasement of a national currency. Whatever the reason, if a central bank decides to significantly increase the quantity of money in the system, that currency's purchasing power will always diminish. This is how fiat-money regimes have operated since the beginning of time and this era is no different.

It is interesting to note that throughout recorded history, the worst excesses of inflation occurred only in the 20th century. Undoubtedly, this was a direct consequence of the adoption of fiat-money.

The following chart highlights all the hyperinflationary episodes in recorded history and as you can see, with the exception of the French Revolution (1789-1796), all of the other disasters occurred in the last century. In fact, it is an ominous sign that 29 out of the 30 recorded hyperinflations in human history occurred during the 20th century!

Hyperinflations in History

Let there be no doubt, a paper money system usually ends in the reckless destruction of money and it is no coincidence that all hyperinflations in history have occurred in the presence of discretionary paper money regimes. Furthermore, it is important to understand that a political system based on democracy is inherently inflationary and political leaders have been responsible for all major inflations in the past. Conversely, history has shown that monetary systems binding the hands of political leaders are essential for keeping inflation in check. If history is any guide, metallic monetary systems have shown the largest resistance to inflation and this is due to the fact that currencies anchored by a tangible asset cannot be inflated ad infinitum.

It is our conjecture that the current monetary system is absolutely pathetic; a system designed to enslave society. Unfortunately, the vast majority of humans do not understand the endless inflation agenda and this is why the perpetrators get away with this crime. Furthermore, let it be known that the Federal Reserve is largely responsible for the incredible inflation we have experienced over the past century.

The chart below plots the cost of living in Britain, France, Switzerland and the US. As you will note, the cost of living in these nations was relatively stable for over 160 years (1750-1913) but once the Federal Reserve came to power in 1913, everything changed. Suddenly, the cost of living exploded in these nations, so it should be clear that the Federal Reserve's covert policy of currency inflation and debasement is solely responsible for this mind numbing inflation.

Cost of Living in Various Nations

Unfortunately, the Federal Reserve and its allies have not finished inflating and over the following years, they will create even more confetti money. Under this scenario, cash will continue to lose purchasing power and the asset poor middle-class will get even more impoverished. If our assessment is correct, cash will prove to be a disastrous 'asset' over the next decade and once the Federal Reserve's manipulation ends, fixed income securities will also depreciate in value.

Bearing in mind our grave concern about high inflation and the very real possibility of hyperinflation, we continue to favour hard assets such as precious metals and energy. At present, we have allocated roughly half of our clients' capital to these sectors and it is our belief that this should be an adequate inflation hedge.

The Gualfines' Last Last Stand, Continued...

The air was cold. We mounted up after breakfast. We were headed up into the hills for a showdown.

The horses seemed eager to get underway. They headed out at a fast trot, down the hill, past the stone pillars that marked the entrance to the house, then across the front stockyard, between the rows of Alamos trees and out through the gate.

The sun hit our backs as we cleared the trees. It was only about 8 AM, but the sun was already hot.

"This way," said Jorge, pointing off to the left, the road to the high pastures.

We stuck with the main track for about an hour...then, Jorge led the way over the edge, down among the rocks. We put our heels forward and arched our backs to keep from falling over the horses' heads.

The trail led by a couple of adobe houses...through terraces that had been laid out by Indians hundreds of years ago and then maintained and recycled by generations of people since. Finally, we got down to the deep sand along the river. Jorge edged his horse down the bank and into the water, and then up the other side, rockier and steeper than the way we had come down. The horses' hooves slid on the rocks and clattered among the stones. But they kept going. Up, up, up...through channels worn into the rock...until they finally reached the top. At the top of the hill they seemed relieved and slowed their pace.

We were going through an area of abandoned Indian terraces, houses, storerooms and other ruins whose usefulness was not apparent.

"This is the Quebrada Chica," Jorge announced.

Everywhere we looked there were ruins. At first glance, we barely noticed them. There were rocks everywhere. But then the patterns became clearer and we realized that they were all around us. Terraced walls to hold the dirt and provide level places to plant corn. Small walls of what must have been dwellings or workshops. Walls probably designed to protect the community.

"There must have been more rain back then," Jules suggested. "Otherwise, this place doesn't make any sense. You couldn't plant anything here now. "

We came to the top of a ridge and looked ahead. There was a house...some trees - weeping willows, poplars and molles - and fields. The fields were meant to be pastures. In one of them there were two white horses. But there was not a blade of grass. It looked more like a giant parking lot than like a pasture. All it lacked were lines painted to mark the spaces.

In one of the fields, someone was working. A stout young man looked like he was hoeing something. But there was nothing in the field. It was nothing but sand as near as we could tell.

"Edouardo," Jorge called out.

"Hola..."

"What are you doing?"

Edouardo was not as lean and weathered as the other pastajeros we had met. He couldn't have been more than 30 years old, with a full, unlined face under a broad blue Andean hat. His clothes were clean. He might have been a clerk at Wal-Mart.

"Nothing... I'm planting...but if it doesn't rain soon, I'm just wasting my time. It is so dry... I don't know how much longer I can go on like this... I don't know where this leads..."

We passed through his parched fields and then went up another rocky hill. The horses followed the track...up along the ridge...and then down the other side to another group of houses, fields and trees in what must have been a very beautiful valley, when there was enough water.

We crossed a junction in the 'acequia,' the irrigation ditch. One stream flowed down the hill. The other cut off towards the adobe house in front of us. Jorge stopped. He studied it for a minute.

"They're using water."

"They're not supposed to?"

"No, not today. Each one has the right to use water only one day out of every 10. This is not their day. And these are the insurgents. I've got to have a talk with them..."

We rode up to the miserable adobe house. There was smoke coming out of the door. Jorge, Jules and I stayed on our mounts...

"Come on out," said Jorge, or words to that effect.

"We know you're in there..."

Jorge's two dogs circled the local animals. The dogs growled at each other...

"Chango...where are you?"

Then, a boy of about 14 came out...hitching up his pants. He looked mildly retarded...or maybe he was just a teenager.

"Why are you using water? You know it's not your time..."

"Uh...."

"Where is your uncle?"

"Uh...por arriba..."

"The family is up in the high pastures with their animals," Jorge explained. "We're not going to be able to meet with them. They left him here to keep an eye on things."

Jorge turned back to the teenager.

"How come the water course is open? It's supposed to be closed. This is not your water day..."

"Uh... I dunno..."

Jules and I were waiting for one of them to go for his gun...

But Jorge soon tired of politely trying to get an answer out of the kid. We turned around and went back to the acequia. Jorge dismounted and blocked it with stones and mud.

The whole ranch is dry. The pastajeros are not only refusing to pay their rents and claiming they own the land...they're also cheating on the water...

Where does it lead for any of us?

Enjoy your weekend,

What a remarkable period in financial history! We can hardly believe our luck. Absurd things are happening. John Maynard Keynes was wrong about practically everything. But he was right about this: There is no subtler, surer means of overturning society than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction and does it in a way that not one man in a million is able to diagnose.

The fact that the average American never gets the information presented in this report via mainstream media proves how tightly controlled the corporate media is. It also clearly demonstrates the blatant fact that the Global Banking Cartel doesn't want American citizens to have even a basic understanding of geo-strategic interests and how power really functions. Above all, the American public must be kept in its place, as the cartel emphatically believes that they are the kings and we are the serfs, and it is none of our business how they conduct themselves. If you are not already a multi-millionaire or billionaire, you have now been marked for either servitude or slow death. That is a very harsh truth, but in the new world of declining resources, looted economies and environmental upheaval, this is the unfortunate reality of the situation. Until the American public can wake up to this new reality, turn off the television and fight back, our living standards will continue to decline at an increasing rate.

Susan was relatively new to San Diego.  She made an indelible mark and a multitude of friends in short order. She joined the Board of Directors of Activist San Diego in 2006 and served as one of its 3 officers. Susan reveled in the idea of building "a communications, information and mobilization network for social justice" that would engage new people, She eager promoted the pending launch of ASD’s Community Radio Project.  Susan was an enthusiastic member of Freedom Road Socialist Organization, believing that it was essential to have a long-term, post-capitalist vision to complement local grassroots activism. The Iraq/Afghan wars were so abhorrent to her that she seldom missed a SD Coalition for Peace and Justice meeting, worked with Code Pink and was passionate about the Stop Blackwater campaign. After attending the US Social Forum in Atlanta she contributed her organizing skills into creating a similar project locally.  The celebration and party in her honor will be a fundraiser for the causes she believed in and gave her life to.  Hope to see you there.  Don't mourn, Celebrate!

[SDCPJ] Israel Raid on Gaza Flotilla: US Failure to Condemn Despite UN Findings by Marjorie Cohn

Israel Raid on Gaza Flotilla: US Failure to Condemn Despite UN Findings

by Marjorie Cohn

http://www.commondreams.org/view/2010/10/14-0

On May 31, the Israeli military attacked a flotilla of ships in International waters. The vessels were carrying humanitarian supplies to the people in the Gaza Strip, who suffer under a punishing blockade by Israel. The stated aims of the flotilla were to draw international attention to the situation in Gaza and the effect of the blockade; to break the blockade; and to deliver humanitarian assistance and supplies to Gaza.
During the attack, Israeli soldiers killed 9 people, seriously wounded more than 50, and detained 750. They also confiscated or destroyed equipment worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The United Nations Human Rights Council sent an independent fact finding mission to investigate violations of international law resulting from the Israeli attacks on the flotilla. The Mission, with Judge Karl T. Hudson-Philips, Q.C., retired Judge of the International Criminal Court presiding, interviewed 112 witnesses and examined forensic and other evidence, assisted by experts in forensic pathology, military issues, and firearms. Israel refused to cooperate with the independent investigation.
In a 56-page draft report [PDF], released on September 21, the Mission concluded that the Israeli military "demonstrated levels of totally unnecessary and incredible violence. It betrayed an unacceptable level of brutality. Such conduct," the report added, "cannot be justified or condoned on security or any others grounds. It constituted grave violations of human rights law and international humanitarian law."
The Mission made the following findings:
Passengers on the vessels and their luggage were subjected to "security checks similar to those found in airports before boarding, including body searches," to ensure that they were not carrying weapons. "At no stage was a request made by the Israeli Navy for the cargo to be inspected."
The Israelis fired live ammunition from an Israeli helicopter onto the top deck of the Turkish ship, Mavi Marmara, before soldiers boarded the vessel by descending from the aircraft. Although some of the passengers used chairs, sticks, a box of plates and other objects to
resist the soldiers, there was "no evidence to suggest that any of the passengers used firearms or that any firearms were taken on board the ship."
During the operation to secure control of the top deck, the Israeli forces landed soldiers from three helicopters in a 15-minute period. The use of live ammunition resulted in fatal injuries to four passengers and injuries to at least 19 others, 14 with gunshot wounds.
Israeli soldiers continued shooting at passengers who were already wounded, with live ammunition, soft baton charges and plastic bullets. "There was considerable live fire from Israeli soldiers on the top deck and a number of passengers were injured or killed whilst trying to take refuge inside the door or assisting others to do so."
Furkan Dogan, a 19-year old with dual Turkish and U.S. citizenship, was one of the people killed by the Israeli forces. He was hit with live fire while filming with a small video camera on the top deck. He received five bullet wounds. "All of the entry wounds were on the back of his body, except for the face wound, which was delivered at point blank range while he was lying on the ground on his back."
Many people were forced to kneel on the outer deck in harsh conditions for many hours and people were subjected to physical mistreatment and verbal abuse, unnecessarily tight handcuffing, and the denial of access to toilets and food.
Israeli authorities confiscated, withheld, and in some cases destroyed the private property of many hundreds of passengers on board the vessels.
There is a "severe humanitarian situation in Gaza, the destruction of the economy and the prevention of reconstruction." Israel's blockade was "inflicting disproportionate damage upon the civilian population" in Gaza, and is therefore illegal. Article 33 of theFourth Geneva Convention prohibits collective punishment of civilians under occupation. One of the principal motives behind Israel's imposition of the blockade was "a desire to punish the people of the Gaza Strip for having elected Hamas" in the 2005 election. There is "no doubt that Israel's actions and policies amount to collective punishment." In this conclusion, the Mission explicitly supported the findings of Richard Falk, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, as well as those of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
The firing of rockets and other munitions of war into Israeli territory from Gaza "constitutes serious violations of international and international humanitarian law. But action in response which constitutes collective punishment of the civilian population of Gaza is not lawful in the present or in any circumstances."
Israel has continuously occupied Gaza despite its unilateral withdrawal of military forces in 2005. Since then, "abject poverty" among refugees has tripled. Israel determines the conditions of life within Gaza. Israel controls the border crossings and the territorial sea adjacent to Gaza, and it has declared a virtual blockade and limits to the fishing zone, thereby regulating economic activity in that zone. Israel maintains complete control of the airspace above Gaza through continuous surveillance, and it makes military incursions and from time to time hits targets within the Gaza Strip. Moreover, Israel regulates the local monetary market of Gaza based on the Israeli currency and controls taxes and customs duties.
The flotilla presented "no imminent threat but the interception was motivated by concerns about the possible propaganda victory that might be claimed by the organizers of the flotilla." There was no reasonable suspicion that the flotilla posed any military risk, and as a result "no case could be made to intercept the vessels in the exercise of belligerent rights or [UN Charter] Article 51 self-defence."
Not only was the Israeli interception of the flotilla unlawful, "the use of force by the Israeli forces in seizing control of the Mavi Marmara and other vessels was also prima facie unlawful since there was no legal basis for the Israeli forces to conduct an assault and interception in international waters."
Much of the force used by the Israeli soldiers onboard the Mavi Marmara and from the helicopters was "unnecessary, disproportionate, excessive and inappropriate and resulted in the wholly avoidable killing and maiming of a large number of civilian passengers." At least six of the killings, including that of Dogan, can be characterized as "extra-legal, arbitrary and summary executions," which amounted to violations of the right to life and to physical integrity under articles 6 and 7 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
During the period of detention on board the Mavi Marmara, the passengers were subjected to cruel and inhuman treatment, which "did not respect the inherent dignity of persons who have been deprived of their liberty."
The Israeli military's treatment of the passengers on board the Mavi Marmara and in certain instances on board the Challenger 1 amounted to torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment and punishment, in violation of articles 7 and 10 of the ICCPR. The willful killing, torture or inhuman treatment and willfully causing great suffering or serious injury to body or health violated article 147 of the Fourth Geneva Convention.
Other violations included the arbitrary or illegal arrests or detentions, in violation of article 9 of the ICCPR and the parading of detainees at the quayside carrying "the hallmarks of a 'triumph'" which amounted to a "humiliating spectacle" in violation of article 13 of theThird Geneva Convention.
Serious incidents of physical violence perpetrated by the Israeli military and/or police officers at the Ben Gurion International Airport "clearly constituted grave violations" of the right to security of the person and to human dignity, in violation of article 9 of the ICCPR. In some instances, the treatment amounted to torture.
The confiscation of a large amount of video and photographic footage recorded on electronic and other media by passengers "represents a deliberate attempt by the Israeli authorities to suppress or destroy evidence and other information."
The ICCPR guarantees the victims judicial remedies and reparations proportionate to the gravity of the violations. Torture victims should be afforded medical and psychological care, and article 9 provides for a specific right to compensation.
"The perpetrators of the more serious crimes being masked cannot be identified without the assistance of the Israeli authorities," the Mission concluded, and urged the Israeli government to assist in their identification.

Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the UN Human Rights Council a biased commission because it issued the Goldstone Report [PDF] , a 575-page document under the direction of noted Zionist Richard Goldstone, which found Israel guilty of international law violations in its December 2008 - January 2009 war on Gaza. During that war, 1,400 Palestinians and 13 Israelis were killed.
Israel conducted its own investigation of the flotilla attack, known as the Turkel Commission. It refused to take testimony from any of the victims on the vessels.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon also commissioned an investigation, which undertook no primary witness investigation, largely relying on evidence from Israeli officers.
There is no evidence that the United States played any direct role in the attack on the flotilla. However, U.S.-made and U.S.-financed Apache and Blackhawk helicopters, which Israel often employs, were likely used in the assault. Any use of those weapons would violate the Arms Export Control Act, which prohibits any recipient of U.S. arms exports from using U.S. weapons except for security within its own borders or for self-defense.
Israel could not maintain its illegal occupation of the Palestinian territories without the support of the United States. Three weeks after Israel's deadly attack on the flotilla, 329 out of 435 members of the House of Representatives and 87 out of 100 senators wrote letters to President Barack Obama supporting what they called Israel's right to "self-defense."
Obama has failed to condemn Israel's actions on May 31, notwithstanding overwhelming evidence of its illegality. If Iran had attacked a humanitarian flotilla in international waters and killed 9 people, there would be certain retaliation from Washington.
Until our government stands up to the powerful Israel lobby in the United States, the Palestinian people, and our own humanity, will continue to be held hostage.

[SDCPJ] Saving our Citizens Homes and Halting Foreclosure Fraud

Here is the problem:

Foreclosure fraud has been happening in our country, as some bank employee's are trying to repossess folks homes, but do not have legal title to do so.  So, some have been forging paperwork to show the court that it can take a home.  While other banks are standing up to ensure that they do the right thing for our people.

Join with thousands to send the message that it is time to follow the example and replicate the honorable actions that the Leaders within their own Industry have demonstrated.  It is time to uphold their oath of fiduciary trust and show loyalty and respect toward their clients, the citizens of the United States.  The rapidly increasing momentum of our People Power is making it clear that the new era is here, and in the 21st Century, it has now been proven that it is profitable to take care of the American people.

You are invited to make your voice heard, to cosign this letter that Rep. Alan Grayson wrote, calling for the Director of the FBI and Central Florida's U.S. Attorney to prosecute the bank employee's that foreclosed illegally on the homes of our families and citizens.

Signing Rep. Grayson's letter is another step forward in making the changes that we know are possible and creates a new path that protects our American Dreams and encourages us to achieve great things!

Thank you so much for your time and the fact that you care about the well-being of our fellow citizens' and neighbors.

Dear Suellis,

The banks have gone wild.

Over the last three months, I've been bombarded with stories of banks committing foreclosure fraud to take people's homes. Foreclosure fraud happens when a bank decides that it wants to take someone's house, but it doesn't have legal title to do so. So it forges paperwork to show the court that it can take a home. Judges often agree to a foreclosure, because most of them can't believe a bank would simply falsify paperwork. Since the foreclosure fraud story was exposed, however, Bank of America and JP Morgan-Chase have suspended foreclosures in 23 states, including Florida. Judges are getting more skeptical and demanding paperwork.

But this isn't stopping the problem fast enough. JP Morgan Chase was just caught hiring a contractor to break into a woman's home and change the locks, while she cowered in a bathroom and called 911. Then the bank claimed it was a simple mistake, as she wasn't even in foreclosure.

Last month, I called for the Florida Supreme Court to halt these illegal foreclosures. The Florida Supreme Court declined, saying it had no authority to do so. I also asked Fannie Mae to stop working with law firms under investigation for falsifying paperwork. They have not responded. I recently sent a letter to the Treasury Secretary and our national bank regulators asking for a national moratorium on foreclosures while authorities assess the scope of the problem. I have also taped a 7-minute YouTube video explaining the whole situation.

But that's not enough. We need to stop these "banks gone wild."

I need your help. I'm sending a letter to the Director of the FBI and to Central Florida's U.S. Attorney asking them to prosecute banks that foreclose illegally on homeowners.

Will you add your name to this letter? I will send this letter, along with all of the cosigners and your comments, to law enforcement officials.

You can sign it here, at NotTooBigtoJail.com.

Courage,

Congressman Alan Grayson

[SDCPJ] Please take a second to protect over 400 airport workers from termination!

Friends and allies please take a second to sign this online petition to support over 400 service workers at the San Diego Airport who may lose their jobs without a worker retention policy. (Please sign even if you don't live in San Diego, if you ever fly through our airport) Worker retention has helped airports in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and across the nation maintain quality service and consistent revenues through major transitions.  San Diego Airport workers deserve the same!  Thank you. (and please pass this along to others)

In Solidarity!

[SDCPJ] Fw: [NLGMassdefense] SFLC: Condemns FBI Raids on Trade Union, Anti-War and Solidarity Activists

----- Original Message -----
From: Sue Udry
Sent: Wednesday, September 29, 2010 7:18 AM
Subject: [NLGMassdefense] SFLC: Condemns FBI Raids on Trade Union,Anti-War and Solidarity Activists

San Francisco Labor Council Resolution

[Note: The following resolution -- submitted by David Welsh, NALC 214, and Alan Benjamin, OPEIU 3 -- was adopted unanimously by the SFLC Delegates' Meeting on Sept. 27, 2010.]

Condemn FBI Raids on Trade Union, Anti-War and Solidarity Activists
Whereas, early morning Sept. 24 in coordinated raids, FBI agents entered eight homes and offices of trade union and anti-war activists in Minneapolis and Chicago, confiscating crates full of computers, books, documents, notebooks, cell phones, passports, children's drawings, photos of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X, videos and personal belongings. The FBI also raided offices of the Twin Cities Anti-war Committee, seizing computers; handed out subpoenas to testify before a federal Grand Jury to 11 activists in Illinois, Minnesota and Michigan; and paid harassment visits to others in Wisconsin, California and North Carolina; and

Whereas, one target of the raid was the home of Joe Iosbaker, chief steward and executive board member of SEIU Local 73 in Chicago, where he has led struggles at the University of Illinois for employee rights and pay equity. Brother Iosbaker told the Democracy Now radio/TV program that FBI agents "systematically [went] through every room, our basement, our attic, our children's rooms, and pored through not just all of our papers, but our music collection, our children's artwork, my son's poetry journal from high school -- everything." He and his wife, a Palestine solidarity activist, were both issued subpoenas. The earliest subpoena dates are October 5 and 7; and

Whereas, the majority of those targeted by the FBI raids had participated in anti-war protests at the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul MN, which resulted in hundreds of beatings and arrests [with almost all charges subsequently dropped]. Many of those targeted in the 9/24 raids were involved in humanitarian solidarity work with labor and popular movements in Colombia -- "the most dangerous place in the world to be a trade unionist"-- whose US-funded government has been condemned by the AFL-CIO and internationally for the systematic assassination of hundreds of trade unionists; and

Whereas, the nationally coordinated dawn raids and fishing expedition marks a new and dangerous chapter in the protracted assault on the First Amendment rights of every union fighter, solidarity activist or anti-war campaigner, which began with 9/11 and the USA Patriot Act. The raids came only 4 days after a scathing report by the Department of Justice Inspector General that soundly criticized the FBI for targeting domestic groups such as Greenpeace and the Thomas Merton Center from 2002-06. In 2008, according to a 300-page report obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, the FBI trailed a group of students in Iowa City to parks, libraries, bars and restaurants, and went through their trash. This time the FBI is using the pretext of investigating "terrorism" in an attempt to intimidate activists.

Therefore be it resolved, that the San Francisco Labor Council denounce the Sept. 24th FBI raids on the homes and offices of trade union, solidarity and anti-war activists in Minneapolis, Chicago and elsewhere; the confiscation of computers and personal belongings; and the issuance of Grand Jury subpoenas. This has all the earmarks of a fishing expedition. The FBI raids are reminiscent of the Palmer Raids, McCarthy hearings, J. Edgar Hoover, and COINTELPRO, and mark a new and dangerous chapter in the protracted assault on the First Amendment rights of every union fighter, international solidarity activist or anti-war campaigner, which began with 9/11 and the USA Patriot Act;

And be it further resolved, that this Council make the following demands:
1.       Stop the repression against trade union, anti-war and international solidarity activists.
2.       Immediately return all confiscated materials: computers, cell phones, papers, documents, personal belongings, etc.
3.       End the Grand Jury proceedings and FBI raids against trade union, anti-war and international solidarity activists;

And be it further resolved, that this Council participate in the ongoing movement to defend our civil rights and civil liberties from FBI infringement; forward this resolution to Bay Area labor councils, California Labor Federation, Change to Win and AFL-CIO;  and call on these organizations at all levels to similarly condemn the witch hunt;
And be it finally resolved, that this Council urge the AFL-CIO to ensure that denunciation of the FBI raids is featured from the speakers' platform at the October 2, 2010, One Nation march in Washington, DC, possibly by inviting one of those targeted by the raids, for example the SEIU chief steward whose home was raided, to speak at the rally.
