August is Nuclear Free Future Month.
For this, the Peace Resource Center of San Diego is hosting a month long commemoration of Japan's nuclear experiences (Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Fukushima) with a focus on remembering the past while educating about nuclear issues that persist and need to change.
~ Sat, Aug 6th ~
For this day, the 66th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima, we open the new PRC space from 2-7 pm with a memorial exhibit and invite the public to visit, view, ask questions, read books, listen, remember, and reach for peace.
While you are on campus, the Brethren are also hosting a Neighborhood block party, which you are also welcome to join. There will be fun, food, and friends! Let the kids play games, run through the sprinklers, enjoy summer. Bring a picnic potluck dish if you are able.
~ Tues, Aug 9th ~
For the anniversary of Nagasaki, we are starting our film series with a FREE Special Screening of "Atomic Mom." This feature-length documentary is not otherwise available to the public! Come see this powerful film about two women, both mothers, who have very different experiences of the atom bomb. http://atomicmom.org
