[SDCPJ] Anti-militarist Web site recently updated

This is to let you know that NEW articles and updated content have recently been posted at http://www.comdsd.org/, the Web site of the San Diego-based Committee Opposed to Militarism and the Draft (COMD).

Included in the current update are three articles from the latest issue of COMD's printed newsletter, Draft NOtices:

- "ROTC and the Seduction of Liberal Militarism," by military veteran Sean Dinces, provides a powerful rebuttal to arguments in favor of having ROTC in colleges.

- "The Peace Symbol: Fashion or Political Statement?," by Nancy Cruz and Paula Hoffman-Villanueva, explores the growing popularity of the peace symbol among teenagers and analyzes their answers to a survey on what it means to them.

- "Activists Shut Down 'Army Experience Center'," by Pat Elder, describes the successful campaign to close down this expensive, high-tech military recruiting experiment.

In addition to the above three articles, the current printed version includes a form for high school students to opt out before schools release their contact information to recruiters, a commentary on children and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and a review of an important upcoming school board election.

To order the complete printed version of Draft NOtices, visit the Web site's Draft NOtices page.
