With the recent tragic murders of teenagers Amber Dubois and Chelsea King have come widespread calls for execution of the perpetrator. Will one more violent act bring healing to our community, or to the Dubois and King families?
Two men whose lives were forever impacted by issues surrounding the death penalty are Aqeela Sherrills and Tim Atkins. Sherrills' 18 year old son was murdered in 2002, forcing him to confront the question of capital punishment vs. the alternatives. Atkins, who was convicted of robbery and murder, was serving a life sentence when irrefutable evidence surfaced to prove his innocence which subsequently lead to his exoneration and release.
These men will tell their moving stories and answer questions at a public forum on Saturday, April 10 th at 1-3:00 PM at the Point Loma Public Library, 3701 Voltaire Ave. San Diego. PLUG THIS DATE INTO YOUR CALENDARS!
