Park in the Target lot, close to the intersection. On this day before Mother's Day we will protest in remembrance of all the mother dogs held in solitary confinement as prisoners of greed for their entire lives. Dogs are farmed as livestock at unlicensed kennels as well as under the jurisdiction of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). The primary objective is to maximize profits for these breeding facilities (also known as puppy mills), the brokers who work with the breeders and pet stores (check out the Hunte Corp.), and the pet stores themselves. This is BIG money. Animal Planet states this is now a one billion dollar corporate industry in the US and the number of puppy mills in the US has doubled! Four million puppies were produced by puppy mills last year. At the same time, five million dogs were euthanized because they couldn't find homes. |
