12 Noon - 1:30 p.m.

San Diego Civic Center Plaza
3rd Ave. at B Street downtown

April 12, 2010

Join us tomorrow to celebrate five years of the Living Wage!

Internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Michelle Shocked will perform a free concert at noon tomorrow to celebrate the 5-year anniversary of San Diego's Living Wage Ordinance.

Please come spend your lunch hour celebrating with workers, city officials and community leaders on the Civic Center Plaza downtown. Come out and show your support for wages that lift families out of poverty!

An excellent article on the Living Wage anniversary appeared in the Union-Tribune Sunday (and re-posted on Business Week), describing how businesses have survived and even thrived paying the living wage. The article inadvertently gave the wrong date for the celebration. It is Tuesday, April 13: tomorrow!

The incomparable Michelle Shocked (
here's one of her hits) and fabulous local folk-rockers ZenKeys Cooperative will perform. Workers will describe how the Living Wage has changed their lives, and City Council members will proclaim tomorrow Living Wage Day in San Diego. Don't miss it!
