What: Protest at Pet Works Pet Store, Grossmont Shopping Center
When: Every Saturday at 11 AM

Can you please come to the pet store protest in Grossmont Center Shopping Mall next Sat.? We desperately need strong activists like you to join us and are trying to get as large a group as possible there next Sat. We hope to have someone videotaping for a you tube video of the protest. We start at 11 AM. Some of us stay until 2 PM, but we realize that not everyone can stay that long. We have signs and flyers.

We have been there 27 weeks in a row and the owner is really coming down hard on us. It is our legal right to be there to protest his selling of puppy mill pups, per the CA Supreme Court Pruneyard ruling. Mall security is testing that to the limit and are now keeping cameras on us, the pet store employees are taking photos of the protesters, they are passing out their own "our side of the story" flyers, and we have had instances of employees coming out and screaming obscenities at us. Security is telling us we can't bring any chairs except wheelchairs, we can't lean signs, we have to physically hold them, and they are putting limits on what they say we can do even if we have the law on our side that says differently. We are now refusing to comply with any unreasonable demands.

The San Diego Humane Society continues to accept donations from this store (Pet Works) at the same time they tell the public not to buy pet store puppies. A local vet (Kearny Mesa Veterinary Hospital) contracts with Pet Works as the only designated vet that people can take their purchased puppies to. It's an outrage and the reason any vet would do that is greed. Wells Fargo Bank has contracted with them to let folks who can't afford the dogs buy them on a payment plan.

This has turned into a First Amendment as well as an animal rights protest. Come!!!!
