[SDCPJ] This Wed 6:30 ~ Party with Nonviolence Connections

It's a Party!

  • Eat
  • Talk
  • Play
  • Learn about the people and groups here.
  • Browse books in the peace library.
  • Share your vision, your dream!

Join Ellie, Debby, Carroll, John and Allen for a party with:

  • Nonviolent Communication-San Diego,
  • Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP),
  • Nonviolent Peaceforce-San Diego, and
  • the Peace Resource Center.

Meet old friends and new, learn news of the four organizations. Bring your enthusiasm, curiosity, caring for the world, desire to do the right thing, and wish to express freedom!

Food and Games

We'll play some connection games and share some snacks

  • feel free to bring a snack or dish to share
  • but if you can't, please come anyway!

Spread love and peace, bring your friends, mingle for informal intellectual discussions that will take place around the snack table. Practice nonviolence techniques with fellow enthusiasts.  Practice communicating by role-playing when people react strongly against your nonviolent protesting.

We'll introduce our groups for 15 minutes.

Hear about how AVP works with prisoners, in our community, and throughout the world. Carroll recently returned from a trip to Nepal as a member of a Friends Peace Team that facilitated AVP workshops including Trauma Healing and has some interesting stories to tell. (If we ask really politely, maybe she will play the autoharp.)

Hear how Nonviolent Peaceforce San Diego supports the work of Nonviolent Peaceforce to spread the concept of Unarmed Civilian Peacekeeping throughout the world. NP's peace teams are doing groundbreaking peace work in Mindanao, Philippines and south Sudan. NP San Diego also works to promote nonviolence in our community through workshops and partnering with other nonviolence organizations.

Learn about Nonviolent Communications (NVC) activities in San Diego and Southern California.

See the Peace Resource Center (PRC), the new "green" building they are in, and what has changed this past year.

Collaborate, Create, Listen, Share:

What kind of events would you like? Introduce yourself and let us know. What personal gifts and talents are you inspired to express? How can we partner together and create new projects, using our unique skills?

Truly listen to one another, and learn about each other's differing ways of supporting nonviolence.Listen with openness and curiosity as a way to promote nonviolence within our own movement and our own relationships with each other. Let's learn from each other's different viewpoints and explore the diversity of our experiences and dreams.

Talk with others about nonviolence books you've read.

Share and learn about nonviolent direct action.

Carpooling

If you would like a ride, or would enjoy giving a ride and sharing the trip with someone else, we are setting up a carpool.

To find someone to carpool with, you can either email me, John and I will look for someone in your area.  (You can email me from the Members page above.)

Or, you can Post a message at the bottom on this page, and ask if anyone in the community wants to contact you to carpool, and indicate what part of the city you're wanting to carpool from.  Go to this page: http://www.meetup.com/Nonviolence-Connections/events/129201492/

So far, we have one person who would like to carpool from the San Diego/Mission Valley/La Jolla area.  Would you like to carpool with them?  Please let me know and I can put you in touch.
